Communication Audits- Why Every Organization Needs a Course Correction

The rise of digital media and the ability to segment audiences has resulted in unintended consequences for many organizations, including duplicated efforts, redundant information, missed opportunities, communications overload, and more.

Do you know every communication your organization is sending to your members? Do you know what they really want? A communication audit—whether conducted internally or externally—takes a hard look at your print and digital publications, and even marketing efforts, to determine whether what you’re putting out there truly aligns with audience needs.

Speaker: Angela Hickman

Angela Hickman is a 27-year veteran of the publishing industry. She launched Hickman Brady Media, which currently manages two publications for two associations, after a 17-year stint serving in senior roles with Stratton Publishing & Marketing (now Stratton Media Strategies), where she managed nearly a dozen different association publications and numerous research and consulting projects. Angela continues to serve as Senior Consultant/Media Strategist for Stratton, conducting reader feedback studies, communication audits, and other consultations.

Prior to joining Stratton, Angela worked for American City Business Journals on the Washington Business Journal and the Atlanta Business Chronicle. Earlier, she served as Editor of the Business Journal of Tri-Cities, TN-VA. She is a past board member of Association Media & Publishing and former editorial advisor to ASAE’s Associations Now magazine. She is the coauthor, with Debra Stratton, of the chapter on association publishing for the third edition of ASAE's Handbook of Professional Practices in Association Management (2015).
