Facebook has taken away their users' ability to reach for free all or even most of the people they've worked so hard to attract as followers to their pages. However, Facebook's inexpensive ads and "boosted posts" actually offer some great benefits. Here are three things organizations should be taking advantage of.

At a recent Association Media & Publishing seminar, Creating a Compelling Content Marketing Strategy to Grow Your Association, I had the opportunity to chat with a few attendees as we sipped coffee and settled in for the day. I asked two ladies, colleagues at a Chicago-area association, about the role that they play in their own association's content marketing. They looked at each other and giggled. Apparently, they just recently found out that the jobs they've been doing for years -- that of developing and disseminating valuable information -- is now known as content marketing.

Apple's record-breaking launch of its new iPhones has as much to do with the sales options they offered as well as the technology. Any company can increase their sales by using an options sales strategy.

My iPad ran out of space when adding some magazines. It got me thinking: If the Internet tablet and the digital magazine are a marriage made in heaven, then why do they often get along more like the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills? Why do even the most prestigious magazines receive only a 3 out of 5 rating?

During my most recent vacation this summer, I actually got some R&R. At least I went to the part of the cruise ship specifically designated as the relaxation area so that type As like me would know what it was for. Immediately I saw an opportunity for relaxation and research. While cruising on the high seas aboard the Norwegian Star en route to Bermuda, I couldn't resist the urge to investigate how my fellow passengers were "taking in" content.
